Last year, I travelled for 10 hours by train in order for me to take my large format camera with me to Paris.  I only took about 10 photos, but I really enjoyed using it in the home of photography.  Random strangers wanting to chat became commonplace and the freezing cold at night was a bit jarring, but I was pretty happy with some of the results.

Of course, they are best viewed super large in flickr!
